You may have noticed a lack of anything but reivews, giveaways, and holiday gift ideas around here. While I love posting about these things, I don't love the lack of other things like personal content, recipes, crafts, and just fun posts. November seems to do that to the blog. While I don't like being overly busy, it seems that that's how we've been living for a few weeks. First, it was the Captain's birthday, then the boys' double party, then everyone but Captain Fussybuckets got a small stomach bug, then the Captain had to have dental work done because despite all efforts by us, he had cavities in his molars. All of them. And long story short, but they didn't let me stay with him and after two teeth, he was done and there was no parent there to comfort him. He felt he couldn't breathe and started crying, which made it worse. So, dental work that was going to be completed in two visits turned into three, and now we're wondering if it might be four, completed over a year's time! ah!
But after the dental work, he attended his first "real" playdate with a classmate from "school." He had a blast! And it took his mind off of his dental trauma, too, because it was right after he left the dentist. (Well, right after he got ice cream after leaving the dentist…. 🙂 Then the next day, Daddy and Mommy got to go on a gondola ride (more about that in another post!) and the boys stayed with their great grandmother and grandfather and also played with Grandma, their aunt, and two of their cousins! They got nice and tired and went to bed late. Oh, and the Captain got to spend the night with his cousins, which Baby D wasn't too happy about, of course! The next day, we woke up for church, went to pick up the Captain while D took a mini nap in the car, and then we all, along with Aunt and the cousins, went to a wildlife refuge (before our Groupon expired! ha!) It was a lot of fun, but everyone's fun turned into grumpiness on the way home, which led to a 7:45 bedtime for the boys. Which…..Baby D usually goes to bed between 8:30 and 9 and CF between 9 and 9:30 so…..yeah, 7:45 was awesome! In fact, we three are sitting on the couch, happy, well rested, and pleasant because we all slept in until 7:30/7:45!
The big trips aren't over and the holidays are approaching, but I think it's essential to give yourself a break, like we are doing today. I have no problem letting the three laundry baskets sit there until I've done more important things. There's NO shame in taking a rest for yourself and making sure you're taken care of, don't forget that! Take care of yourselves this holiday season! I am hoping and praying that we mothers and grandmothers can enjoy the time with our loved ones instead of making sure everything is perfect. (And don't go Black Friday shopping unless you truly enjoy it!!! 🙂

Oh, I live for Black Friday shopping!! But definitely not the craziness that everyone else makes it out to be. My black friday shopping is relaxing, enjoyable and fun. Plus I get all of the gifts I need before 10am!
I hope things slow down a bit for you.

Wow, so sorry to hear about Captain's dental work. Why on Earth would they not let you stay with him? I would have lost my mind. Anyway, I'm feeling very much the same way - my blog is overrun with reviews/giveaways (which I love and don't like at the same time), I'm constantly up against deadlines to get things posted, and life is just moving too fast lately. So many places to be all at one time. This is a great reminder.

Oh man! I want to pet a camel!!! lol.
It is so true, around this time of year we all get so wound up in everything, we forget about taking time to enjoy life. It's not all about shopping, or parties, or running around like a wild chicken with it's head cut off! Great reminder.

There is so much to do that I forget to take time for myself! Thanks for reminding me. And, I won't be in those crowds on Black Friday!
