I was given complimentary tickets to the Belong Tour.
As a blogger, mom, and millennial, I was familiar with some of the ladies advertised as speakers of the Belong Tour. I was wondering what this team of women had to say and if I would get anything out of it. It was a very uplifting, encouraging time and I'm SO glad that I went!
These writers, musicians, athletes, poets, and friends are not afraid to get real—even when reality isn’t pretty. They’re honest. Hilarious. They have struggled. They still struggle. (That’s just life.) They’ll invite you to laugh and reflect. You’ll find yourself in their stories.
They’re women who love God, love people, and believe life is at its best when it’s shared. So they are deeply committed to creating a space for women to connect, see, and know each other . . . and to carry each other’s burdens.
They are absolutely here for you. ~belongtour.com
Who are the speakers, anyway?
Shauna Niequist – wife, mom, author, teacher. Just search her name on Amazon and you will likely recognize some of her amazing books! Her latest is called Present Over Perfect: Leaving Behind Frantic for a Simpler, More Soulful Way of Living.
Nichole Nordeman – award winning singer and songwriter, mom. You are probably familiar with her tear jerker song "Slow Down."
Sharon Irving – singer, songwriter, poet, actress. She has such a beautiful, powerful voice and has great news to share with everyone.
Jen Hatmaker – mom, wife, author, blogger. Jen is not afraid to be bold and tell the honest truth about some of today's hot topic issues. She delivers each word with love and humor, and it's like listening to an old friend.
Patsy Clairmont – author, speaker, artist. Patsy traveled with Women of Faith™ for 20 years and loves being able to speak to the next generation of women with Belong.
Angela Davis – athlete, encourager. Angela was a member of the USA Track and Field team, as well as countless other things where she gave it her all. Now she is working hard to coach other women to believe in themselves.
Who is the Belong Tour for?
Women. Plain and simple. All women from every walk of life would benefit from attending the Belong Tour. No matter what your story is, you are welcome at Belong. (I even saw one man on Friday night and while I think he was just there to support his breastfeeding wife, I am willing to bet that he got something out of what the women had to say, as well!)
Do you have to be a Christian?
No. While they do talk about God, you do not have to be a Christian to identify with the honest, heartfelt stories these women share with the audience. Every speaker talked to us like we were a small, intimate gathering of women who genuinely care about each other and accept one another, no matter their story. They spoke truths about their own real life that we could relate to.
Can Kids Attend?
I did see a few kids there, but I would not recommend it because it's just a lot of sitting and some grown up topics. Plus, I truly believe that had my kids been there, I would have missed half of what the speakers were saying. This should be a time for mom to be able to sit and relax and soak in what the speakers are trying to her.
What should I bring?
You don't need much, but definitely bring: your ticket, a few friends, and a pen and notebook for taking notes. I was completely engaged and forgot I took a notebook and pen. I never take notes, but there were a few things I wish I had written down.
