Make Fresh, Healthy, Delicious Baby Food!

Make Fresh, Healthy, Delicious Baby Food!

When our boys were younger, I really enjoyed making some baby food for them.  I did it the old fashioned way and it was very time consuming, though.  I wasn't sure that I would need a baby food maker, but after trying out the NUK Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend baby food maker, I'm convinced that I would've loved having it during those baby food years.  Our boys are 4 and 2 years old, but they're still huge fans of applesauce, so I decided to make strawberry applesauce for them with the Fresh Foods baby food maker.

Using the Fresh Foods maker was very simple.  I was honestly surprised by how easy it was.  First, I washed the fruit:

I found a recipe in the book, written by child nutrition expert, Annabel Karmel, that I tweaked a bit because we didn't have any peaches:

Then, I cut up the apple and put the pieces in the Fresh Foods machine.  The recipe book tells exactly how much water you  need to add to the water reservoir to steam the fruit.

Then, you just put the lid on and press the button and it perfectly steams the food!

After it has finished, it lets out a beep to alert you that the food is done steaming.

Since the strawberries aren't as dense as the apples, I added them in and added more water to steam them:

After it was done, I simply dumped the fruit in the water and removed the basket.  The blade is below the basket, so there's no messing with parts.  Just turn the knob to make the baby food the consistency you need:

After a few seconds, we had fresh, delicious strawberry applesauce!

The boys absolutely loved it!  I put it in a resealable pouch for them to enjoy…and they did!  And because it was so much fun, I then make a chunkier applesauce….yum!

I really enjoyed using the NUK Freshfoods Cook-N-Blend Baby Food Maker.  It was simple to use, the instructions were very easy to follow, and we had fresh baby food within minutes!  I would definitely recommend this to any new mom or dad who was going to go the baby food route!  And the Freshfoods maker comes with a bonus smoothie blade so the whole family can use and enjoy this product!

NUK Freshfoods has many accessories to help feed Baby, like the Mash & Serve Bowl, Food Mill, Freezer Tray, Stackable Cubes, and Fill and Freeze Pops.  All the Freshfoods products are BPA free and dishwasher safe, too. (But don't immerse the machine in water, of course!)

If you are interested in purchasing a Freshfoods baby food maker, learn more from the NUK Freshfoods website and follow NUK on Facebook, too!  The Freshfoods maker can be purchased from Amazon for around $75 or in select stores.

This will be great if you have to hide vegetables in food later on, a la The Sneaky Chef.

It looks like it turned out good! I skipped making purees with my second and went straight to table food, but I did some purees with my food processor with my first.
