It’s getting cold here in Texas, believe it or not, and I was thinking about this today as I strapped Baby D in the carseat….I don’t let my kids wear any kind of puffy or big jacket at all in the carseat. In fact, I’m kind of a mean mommy and I take their coats off in the car (because really, who needs a coat in the car with a heater anyway?) or let them use a blanket. Now, it doesn’t get THAT cold in Texas, so maybe you Northern parents could teach me a thing or two….but for me, there’s really no sense in wearing a coat in the carseat. It’s VERY dangerous and the first video explains why. Please, please, please…be safe and make sure that your child’s harness is tight on them. (not too tight of course!) If you can pinch any part of the strap, it’s too lose, your child could fly out. I just found these videos on YouTube and I don’t know who this is personally, but she’s very smart! Check it out!

Great idea posting the videos! I'm a PA momma and yes, the extra steps are frustrating but life-saving, I'm sure.

Thanks for posting this! I live in the North and my kids have never worn a coat in their carseats. It is so unsafe and blankets and heaters work just fine in our cold winters.

Wow, I had no idea it was dangerous to wear a coat in the carseat. I mean, it makes sense, but I guess I've never thought about it. And you're right, it's plenty warm in the car. Thanks for posting this!!
