Don’t Let One Bad Apple Spoil the Bunch

I’ve been going to church since I was in the womb, so I’ve seen a lot of issues that are just sad come out of the church.  I see it all the time….friends post on Facebook “he claimed to be a Christian” or “Christians are so hypocritical.”  There are Christians that have done me and my husband wrong, but we have to forgive and forget and trudge forward.  I’m not letting a few bad apples spoil my relationship with God.

Think about a group of people that you know….whether it’s a group of friends who associate with the same political party, a mommy playdate group, or maybe even something like a group of friends that are all the same profession.  Now you know that all people are different, and you can probably pick out one or two friends within that group that are the “bad apples.”  But (hopefully) you don’t say “Oh wow, Jane is such a blabbermouth, I hate all nurses now!”  See, that would just be silly.

What am I getting at here?  I just want to let you know that if a person of a certain religion has done you wrong, or acted in a way that you feel they shouldn’t have, just know that they were either having a bad day, or are “bad apples.”  If you’re wanting to go church or belong to a particular church, there will be people that just annoy you to no end.  Don’t let those people stop you.  If we had let those people stop us, we would have been discouraged and not have found the wonderful church home we are at now.  Just know that for every bad apple, there are hundreds of GOOD apples, wanting to stand by you and encourage you….because that’s what the body of Christ is all about!

I second that :) I have found that people judge a church by the actions of one "bad apple" and that makes me sad.  You always have that "special apple" in the bunch lol.
