We've got the BEST trash men!

Trash men (or women) have a hard job.  Lugging other people’s disgusting trash into the huge truck and riding around in all kinds of weather doesn’t sound like much fun to me.  Captain Fussybuckets thinks this is the most exciting job lately, so much so that he had to play like he was a trash man at the store today.  This is NOT safe and NOT recommended, but he got a kick out of hanging on to the basket while I pushed him (slowly) and then telling me to stop because there was trash he needed to pick up.  ha!  It was pretty fun, until the store got kinda crowded, then I think we were just being annoying….

Let’s get back to the point….our trash  men ARE the greatest trash men ever.  You see, we’re the people that forget to put the trash out until we hear the truck coming.  Well, we’ve tried putting it out the night before, but cats or dogs, maybe, always attack our trash and leave a huge mess.  Funny how they leave everyone else’s trash alone….I guess we must have the best smelling trash around?

So one day my husband is practically running the garbage can out to the curb.  The truck has driven off but one of the men hanging off the back sees him, tells the driver to go back, and THEY DO!!!  They come back down the road and pick up our trash.  And they do it with a smile on their face and even wave at Captain Fussybuckets, who is admiring the huge truck and the men with the coolest job ever!

Another time, our huge pumpkin had rotted on the front porch, and my dear husband was running it out to the curb.  In the middle of our yard, the bottom fell out and gross nastiness went everywhere.  One of the trash men (I know that’s not the right word…..sanitation worker, is it?) said “we’ll get it” and grabbed the nasty pumpkin pieces and threw them in the truck!

And today, it was drizzling and in the 30s and they happily took our trash and waved at the Captain and Baby D with big smiles on their faces.  Seriously, if I was doing that, I would not be in the mood to smile OR wave at little kids!

So I salute you, Mr. Trash Men….ummm…Sanitation Workers…..you rock.  Thanks for being the best ever.

Is it weird to bake cookies for your trash guys for the holidays?  Hmm….
